I admire a lot of things about my blogger buddy-turned-schoolmate-turned-good friend Mimi. One of them is her ability to just casually chat up anyone she meets randomly, whether while studying in Starbucks, or lining up at the grocery store. And no matter who that stranger is, he or she responds [...] Unless you’re living in an island by yourself, and unless there is something seriously wrong with you, you’re bound to say many, many words to the people around you. Actually, it doesn’t just have to be vocal. In this digital age, we’re sending out tens of thousands of words a day to people at any [...] It’s been almost a month since I’ve been back home to Northern Virginia. And throughout that period, I’ve been up and down in a funk. To be honest, even after I had written that post about being in a funk, it still took me quite awhile to break myself [...] I recently got into a little friendly debate with my friend Jane. She once wrote on her facebook update: “People I will never understand: dog haters, people who don’t like swimming, and murderers.” I had to reply immediately: “I’m a dog-hater.
