This is a lazy-ass post, as the title already warns.
I’m tired. I’m stressed. I’m worried. I’m torn between wanting to hibernate and wanting my internship to go on forever.
But mostly, I’m aghast at the two humongous zits formed on my cheek. The heck? I haven’t had a zit in years. I’m a “working adult” now with two fat pimples as red as a baboon’s butt on my face!
Gotta love God’s humor. This might be the best way to tell me not to take myself too seriously.
So what if I confused “obtuse” with “abstruse” on my article and inadvertently insulted a great poet. I’m human. I make mistakes. The important thing is that I’m learning through my mistakes and edits. And miraculously, getting paid for it.
So in light of that lesson to uh, lighten up, I wrote a guest post for my dear friend Eden. It’s a parody of eating disorders, because it can be tiring to get all doom and gloom about that issue. As much as I want people to recognize that it’s a serious disease, I also think it is good for people who deal with eating disorders to be able to make fun of it and realize they are more powerful than a stupid ED.
So Check it out for my “post” of the day at Eden’s blog.
I’ll be back fresh and hopefully zit-free.

Zits are Jesus reminding you you’re not an old lady yet. So you should feel young and vibrant.
Or at least that’s what I tell myself.
hahaha true that!!! I hope you get some good rest physically and mentally! God is sooo in love with you and I have no doubt that in the coming days He is gonnnaaaa surprriiiiiiise you!
LOL. I’m going to tell everyone that now. “I have zits because I’m young and vibrant.” Love that! Hahaha!
Love how Kalin put it! I’m going to use that. I’m 30 and still fight acne daily–twice a day, actually. But if that means I’m not old yet, then I guess I’ll take it.
Sorry about the article mishap. I didn’t even know that abstruse was a word, so at least you’re ahead of me.
Gotta love the zits…
Hope you feel better and brighter soon. If it’s any consolation the learning and constructive but difficult feedback on your work does get easier to take. The longer I’ve been doing my nursing training the easier it is to deal with my imperfections and let go of my inner, raging perfectionist. I love that you inadvertently insulted a great poet though, high-five!
I am on my way to check out your guest post!
I’m getting zits too.
Probably because I’m moving back home and am nervous about the transition to living with ma and pa again! hah.
When does your internship end and what are you stressing about?
Either way, inhale and exhale – I know you’ll be okay.
Well, I’ve been covered in zits since January so at least you only have one or two
Seriously, I’m really sorry about the obvious amount of stress that you’re under (hence the zits ~ hope you’re managing to sleep okay because that doesn’t help?) and I don’t find any of your posts to be ‘lazy’. One of your ED series posts probably takes the amount of time and work that six of mine take to write and the same as 20 ‘I ate a waffle and a salad’ blog posts elsewhere. Loved your letter on Eden’s blog, full of cutting humour. But I’d expect nothing less from you.
Bugger the mistake on the article: I was hung out to dry over using ‘compliment’ instead of ‘complement’ in one of mine and that just made me snap when it came to academia. You’re a tougher soul than me though so I admire you for sticking at it despite the setback. And we are all only human, despite what some profs like to think.
xxx
Girl, I’m going through a lot of the same stuff right now. Well, not the zits, but I suffered them well into my 30′s, so I deserve a break.
I did so enjoy your guest post at Eden’s site
I never had any pimples when i was a teenager, and then bam- I go on birth control and I get zits at the EXACT SAME TIME every month… its BS. I’m tired of it, and I’m about near risking pregnancy to be done with stupid pill side effects. Well, not really- but I just wanted to offer some solidarity on the zitties!
I’ll be honest…I have quite a few stress zits on my face right now. It happens.
lol like many have already said, stress = zits. i am the lucky bitch in my family–both sides have HORRIBLE acne problems well into adulthood (my mother is almost 50 and still deals with it)– because my face is pretty clear on a regular basis. of course, this might have something to do with the fact that i am OCD and therefore take extremely good care of my face (excessive face/handwashing does come in handy sometimes…) and that my mother is a Dirty Punk and hates showering!
as for the stress of the internship… well, hell, it’s better to be stressed out over something you love to do than, like me, to be at complete liberty but with no real direction in life. my mother has been on me about re-applying to yet another college, and just the idea makes me want to barf. i’ve always been an A+ student, and (again, thanks to OCD and anorexia-driven need for perfection) i am desperately afraid of screwing up AGAIN. the ultimate conundrum: i want to work as a teacher or school social worker, yet i despise school…. argh!!
Hey, I’m older than you and I get zits. Big fat ones.
I just think that mistake is funny. Who doesn’t want to insult a poet now and then? And get paid for it?
(P.S. The link that says “Eden” doesn’t work.) Off to read your guest post!
haaaaate when zits the size of North Dakota pop up outta nowhere. :/
Baking soda masks. Seriously. Mix a little baking soda and water to make a paste, smoother over the craters, er, zits let dry, wash off with warm water.
I have always struggled with acne, finally have it semi-under control but still get the occasional behemoth zit on my chin.
When that happens I do the mask morning and night and they dry up in a day or two!
Ah, thank you! I’ll try that!
I feel you on the zits, too! But you’re doing an awesome job with your internship — I admire you tons! Also, your guest post was very compelling. I send you a hug!!
Loved your guest post!!
Enjoy your night <3
I got news for you kiddo, I never broke out until about Jr. Year of college. And then it’s pretty much lasted till I got pregnant!
Hopefully your Zits resolved themselves, I still get them on rare occasion and I am 45 fricking years old!
LOL – zits love to come along and ruin a day, don’t they! I rarely get them anymore, but when I do, they are always at the worst possible times!
