Giveaway: Spiral Vegetable Slicer

February 17, 2010

in giveaway

I think it’s time.

I’ve been blogging for a little more than a year, and it’s been a most rewarding experience. The very fact that you are right now sitting in front of your computer (or Blackberry), reading whatever I have to write…it’s been a great source of motivation and comfort to me. I’ve gained new precious relationships, and enjoyed all your embracing support, friendship, and encouragements. But there comes a time when I need to think about giving back. I’ve already blabbered enough “thank you”s to all of my readers (that’s you). I would love to give something physical back now. Unfortunately, I’m still a broke student who can’t even afford to indulge on Greek yogurt, with a limited monthly allowance from her poor missionary parents.

Thankfully, one of the perks of being a blogger is connections with (richer) companies, too. CSN Stores gave me an opportunity to either review or giveaway one of their products. I was tempted to score a slow-cooker for myself, but then I remembered that this is the perfect opportunity to award my dear readers. So, in a moment of rare selflessness, I decided to do a giveaway instead. Think of it as a “Thank You” gift from me to you.

CSN Stores is a conglomerate of all sorts of different stores:bar stools, cookware, mailboxes, , and toys and games. Obviously, I was most interested in the cookware site, but I also had tons of fun browsing through the bar stools site, dreaming of the sleek, trendy apartment I would love to design for myself. Gosh, I can just imagine myself, swinging on a chic bar stool, sipping on ice-cream soda…Anyone else like me, who doesn’t give a rat’s ass how her bedroom looks like…so long as the kitchen and dining room is brilliantly furbished? Okay, losing track…Where was I? Oh yeah. Giveaway. And you.

After a survey on Twitter, apparently the major consensus was on a spiralizer, or a mandolin. I found something better:

The Paderno World Cuisine Plastic Spiral Vegetable Slicer

Plastic Spiral Vegetable Slicer
Here’s the description:

“The spiral vegetable slicer cuts vegetables and fruits into curly, ribbon-like slices. By placing the vegetable or fruit on the prongs of the wheel and turning the wheel while pushing the base toward the vertical julienne blade, continuous spiral strands and curled julienne strips are created. The slicer is made of plastic.”

Features:

  • 3 sets of blades with 1/8" (3mm) or 1/4" (6mm) spacing
  • Straight blade for ribbon cuts
  • Slicer Material: Plastic
  • Cleaning and care: Dishwasher safe
  • Warranty: 1 year

How do you enter the giveaway? There are two ways to enter, and each one will win you an entry:

  • Just leave a comment answering any of these questions: What would you like to see more for my blog? Any improvements I can make? If you can’t think of anything wrong, what do you like most about this blog? Or, any questions for me? Ask me anything, and I’ll definitely answer (so long as they are appropriate questions).
  • Tweet, tweet: @burp_excuzme says thank you with this spiral-slicer giveaway: http://www.burpandslurp.com/2010/02/17/giveaway-spiral-vegetable-slicer/(Leave another comment just in case I don’t realize that you’ve tweeted)

If you don’t have a blog, no worries, I still love you! You can still enter the same way as I described above. You’ve got until this Sunday, February 21 to enter!

Best of luck, dear readers! And thank you, thank you for faithfully reading my blog…all my rants, vents, blabbers, and  bitching!!

I love how freakin’ creative your recipes are. No matter what, I always come here and get my mind blown. I also love your stories leading into your food recaps, they’re always beautifully done :) As for questions – did you have an “aha” moment while you were at your worst with your ED? Did you just snap one day, or was it a long progressive change?

aw you’re so generous to your readers! :) i love your blog because your posts have themes and make me think, as opposed to the standard ‘here’s what i ate today’ that many (including myself, because i am not as creative as you) engage in. i’m not saying that’s bad at all, but it’s also good to be different.

i do have a question for you too… in chinese characters, is your last name 蘇?

What I like most about your blog? That it’s YOU. Your personality comes through loud and clear. The humor, the zany quality, the love you have for parents — it’s all there in your lively, young voice. It’s a pleasure to read. ;)

I absolutely LOVE your blog – I stumbled on it a couple of weeks ago…and have spent the past week or so going through your entire blog. I think you are one amazing person – the things you have gone through, and have over come. You have such a wonderful testamony!! My FIL is a preacher – and I know how things can be, as having a dad as one. I love it though. He is such a wonderful man, and I can talk to him about ANYthing! If I have doubts, he is the first I go to. OK…anyway, I do love your blog, thank you for sharing SO much with us. Don’t change a thing! Awesome give away by the way….oh and I love your receipes!!! Awesome!!

I love your blog Sophia, you know this. I love your insightful posts, my only issue/concern is having TOO MUCH good material coming out of you, that it gets overwhelming to read! But I WANT to read it. Which is the hard part. :) :) Eeek, you get it.

Um, yeah. That’s it. I want to win a spiralizer. For sweet potato curly fries and “faux” veggie pasta. ;)
