How I shoot

You’re Invited to the Blogger Warm Fuzzies Game!

What a gloomy, depressing, and dreary day. There is not a spot of sunlight seeping through the thick coat of dark clouds in the sky, the temperature has dropped into a sudden chill, and the rain keeps drip-drip-driping down in sporadic tears.

But what a lovely, lovely day. I’m feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. Know why?

Because Joanne, one of my most favorite person in the world, who is also the junior pastor in my church, took out a precious portion of her busy schedule just to talk to me and take me grocery-shopping. Because my brother loved the lunch I made him. Because I helped him iron his shirt. Because just before he left for a job interview in Washington, D.C, I sent him a text message saying, “Good luck. I’m praying for you.”

Ah, random acts of kindness. Whether you’re giving or receiving it, there is always this lovely warm and fuzzy feeling inside of you, from head to toe. But just take a moment to think about it. How long has it been since you’ve taken the time to show kindness to someone, or express your appreciation for anyone?

Unfortunately, in this busy, hectic, and egocentric century, you don’t see much of it anymore. That is why Ashley from Healthy Ambition and I want to encourage everyone to spread kindness and appreciation in…

Blogger Warm Fuzzies Game!!!

What is a warm fuzzy?

A warm fuzzy is the warm, pleasant sensations you feel in your stomach and heart when you are emotionally moved by an act of goodwill or love. You know that expression! Feeling warm and fuzzy inside is the best feeling in the world, because it is the feeling you get when you perform, or are the subject of, a random act of kindness.

How can I play?

If you would like to participate in our blog-wide version of Warm Fuzzies please make a comment on this page. This page will contain a list of all the blogs participating in the game. If you are playing, we will ask you to display the warm fuzzy logo on your page. It would also be great if you give a little shout-out in your own blog with a link to this page to invite more people.

What does it mean if I receive a warm fuzzy?

If you receive a warm fuzzy, you are required to send one of your own within a few days.

Who can I send a warm fuzzy to?

You can send a warm fuzzy to anyone participating (click here for the list of participants) or anyone who has a warm fuzzy logo on their blog.

What does a warm fuzzy look like?

The warm fuzzy is a comment posted anonymously under the name “Warm Fuzzy” to the most recent post of a participant. The warm fuzzy must be a genuine and heartfelt comment—Please, no broad, impersonal, or generic comments like “Your food looks yummy” or “You are so nice.” What you write is up to you, as long as it is sincere and personable. It can be a few sentences or a longer paragraph. But please don’t write an essay.

When does the game start?

The game will start on Monday June 8.

Why should I participate?

So that you can contribute to making the world a warmer, kinder place, one blog at a time! And because you love that warm and fuzzy feeling inside! And most of all, because you get to wear this awesome badge with pride:

And just for some extra warm fuzzies, let me share the delicious lunch I made for my brother and I that he loved so much:

Avocado-Crab Melts

  • 1 avocado, pitted and diced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 Laughing Cow garlic and herb wedges
  • 1 tablespoon plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon spicy salsa
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onion
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  • salt and pepper
  • 6 oz canned crabmeat, drained
  • 10-15 sliced grape tomatoes
  • 2 slices Pepper Jack cheese
  • 2 oz Goat cheese
  • 2 multi-grain English muffins, split into halves

Mix the avocado cubes with 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
Then mash together 1/4 of the avocado, the remaining 1 tablespoon lemon juice, the Laughing Cow cheese, yogurt, salsa, Worcestershire sauce, herbs, and seasonings until combined thoroughly. Carefully stir in the crabmeat, grape tomatoes, and the rest of the avocado.
Spoon the crab-avocado filling over each split muffin. Top two with Pepper Jack cheese, the other two with the Goat cheese.
Heat it in an oven at 350 degrees until cheese is melted and the toppings are hot.

That’s my serving, with purple cabbage coleslaw and baby carrots.

Gosh, that’s a gorgeous color, ain’t it?

It’s sooo creamy, with the subtle sweetness from the crabmeat and tomatoes, the kick from the salsa, the fragrance of the dill, the tanginess of the Laughing Cow cheese…

This one with Pepper Jack cheese was nice and slightly spicy, and loved the stringy texture…

While this one with the goat cheese was tangy with a creamy texture…

The coleslaw is just sliced purple cabbage dressed in apple juice and cider vinegar.

By golly, I think I’ve got it. Avocadoes (to me) is best used as a binder, or a substitute for butter or mayonnaise. It lends such a creamy and buttery texture to any dish!

For all you avocado-lovers out there, you’ll absolutely love this. And for every single one of you bloggers out there, you’ll definitely love our Warm Fuzzies game! So please join!!
